Obituary
Paul Leroy Swisher, 85, of Mattoon, formerly of Arcola, died at 1:31 PM Monday, August 10, 2015 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, Mattoon.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, August 14, 2015 at the Arcola Cemetery with Rev. Vince Rohn officiating. Military Rites will be accorded by the U.S. Army Honors Guard. Shrader Funeral Home, 204 N. Locust Street, Arcola, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Paul was born November 14, 1929 the son of Harry and Nellie Howard Swisher.
He is survived by his son, Gary Swisher of Arcola; daughter, Vickie Swisher of Toledo; 2 grandchildren, Joe Swisher of Charleston and Angie French of Mattoon; 4 great grandchildren;
2 sisters, Harriett Jones of Mattoon, Mabel Bennett of Humboldt; and several nieces and nephews. He was married to Agnes Landreth.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, and 2 sisters.
Paul served with the U.S. Army from February, 1951-January, 1953. He completed basic training at Camp Breckenridge, Kentucky with the 101st Airborne Infantry Division and then served 18 months in Germany with the 4th Division.
Paul farmed for 43 years in the Arcola and Humboldt area.
Memorials are suggested to Parkinson's Research or the donor's choice.
