Paul Wayne Bird, 87, of Tuscola, IL passed away at 12:12 p.m., Thursday, January 12, 2012 at his residence.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 16, 2012 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL with Rev. Patty Johansen officiating. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Tuscola Township Cemetery, Tuscola, IL.
Mr. Bird was born November 19, 1924 in Tuscola, IL the son of Bruce and Oneida Fitzsimmons Bird. He married Bettie L. Cruzan on March 19, 1955 in Tuscola, IL. She survives.
Other survivors include his son: Bruce H. Bird and wife: Karrie of Mt. Zion, IL, daughter: Laura Bird Smith and husband: Gordon of Long Meadow, MA, grandchildren: Justin Bird, Elizabeth Bird, McKelvie B. Smith and Kylee N. Smith.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers and 2 sisters.
Memorials are suggested to the Tuscola United Methodist Church, Douglas County Museum Association or the donor's choice.
Paul formerly worked as a carpenter and he retired from the Tuscola Community School District where he worked as a maintenance man and janitor. He was a member of the Tuscola United Methodist Church.
