L. Strader
February 7, 1940 – October 17, 2021
Norman L. "Juice" Strader, 81, of Arcola, died at 8:18 p.m. Sunday, October 17, 2021 at St. Mary's Hospital in Decatur.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at Shrader Funeral Home, 204 N. Locust Street, Arcola. Burial will follow in the Arcola Cemetery. Visitation will be held from noon until 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
Norman was born February 7, 1940 in Hindsboro, the son of Clifford A. and Thelma E. Allen Strader. He married Marsha Graham on April 28, 1963 and she survives.
Survivors include his daughter, Leslie (Randy) Leitner of Pekin; grandchildren, Luke Leitner of Joliet; Tate Leitner and Nicole Leitner both of Pekin; brothers, Nelson Strader of Oakland, J.D. Strader of Hindsboro; sister, Myra Coy of Decatur; brother-in-law Archie Dague of Hindsboro; sisters-in-law, Jeanne Strader of Kemp; Gayle Strader of Charleston; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Garret and Brenda Graham of Robinson; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Scott Strader; brothers, Allen, Dan, and Michael Strader; sisters, June England and Dolores Dague; brothers-in-law, Kent Coy and Don England; sisters-in-law, Edna Strader, Sabina Strader, and Linda Strader.
Norman graduated Arcola High School Class of 1958 and from Eastern Illinois University with a degree in Business Education. He retired from the Charleston Public Schools. He also taught at Arcola where he coached Jr. High School Basketball and was honored as a Regional Coach of the year by the Illinois Basketball Coach's Association. He also farmed and raised cattle.
Norman was a member of the Oakland Masonic Lodge #219; Charleston Education Association; and the world famous "Lawn Rangers". He attended Walnut Grove Christian Church and the Arcola United Methodist Church.
He enjoyed hunting, golfing, and drinkin' coffee with his buddies.
