Norma L. Harris, 76, of Tuscola, IL, passed away suddenly at 12:47 p.m., Thursday, August 14, 2014 at the Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, IL
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am, Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at the Forty Martyrs Catholic Church, 201 East Van Allen Street, Tuscola, IL, with Father Delix Michel as celebrant. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 pm, Monday, August 18, 2014 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL with a Vigil Service to be held at 4:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Tuscola Township Cemetery, Tuscola, IL
Norma was born on February 22, 1938 in Champaign, IL, the daughter of Ivan and Emma Pankau Black. She married Joe H. Harris on August 17, 1957 in Corinth, MS. He survives.
Other survivors include her children: Chris (Cheryl) Harris of Tuscola, Jeff Harris of Tuscola, Dr. Lynnette Harris (Everett Lynch) of Houston, TX and Julie Harris (Tammy Rushing) of Spring, TX, grandchildren: Jared, Jason, Brent, Natalie and Nick Harris, great-grandson: Haydyn Gabbard
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Norma attended nursing school and worked in admissions at Jarman Memorial Hospital in Tuscola until the hospital closed. She retired from the University of Illinois, where she worked as an administrative assistant at the McKinley Health Center. She was a member of the Forty Martyrs Catholic Church and the Women of the Moose. Norma enjoyed playing pinochle and working with all kinds of puzzles. She was a power shopper and she loved spending time with her grandkids.
