Norma Lucille Alcorn, 79, of Arcola, died at 8:41 PM Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Hospital surrounded by her family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, November 2, 2009 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 210 S. Pine Street, Arcola, with Rev. Barry Harmon officiating. Burial will follow in the Arcola Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday from 4:00-7:00 PM with Prayer Service at 3:30 PM at St. John's Catholic Church. Shrader Funeral Home, 204 N. Locust Street, Arcola, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Norma was born November 22, 1929 in Arcola, the daughter of George and Quetta Woodworth Gaylord. She was united in marriage to Leo Edward Alcorn in Arcola on Nov. 22, 1949; he preceded her in death on Feb. 20, 2004.

Survivors include her son, Mike Alcorn and wife Natalie of New Palestine, Indiana; 3 daughters, Sue Fiala and husband Rick of Arcola; Connie Alcorn of Arcola; Teresa Stanberry and husband Ken of Mt. Zion; 7 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren.

Norma graduated from Arcola High School and was employed by R.R. Donnelley and Sons in Mattoon for 25 years where she worked in the Production Department. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church where she was active in the Altar and Rosary Society.

Norma loved her family and enjoyed reading and playing cards, especially Rummy and Spades. She believed and practiced that Sundays were family days.

Memorials are suggested to St. John's Altar and Rosary Society.
