Neal Howard Baker, 77, of Champaign, formerly of Arcola, died at 6:19 a.m. on Sunday, February 2, 2025.
Neal was born July 29, 1947 in Tuscola the son of Howard L. and Mildred Edgar Baker. He married Janice Keefer on September 17, 2005.
Survivors include his wife, Janice Baker of Champaign; son, Lloyd Neal (Deanna) Baker of Metropolis; stepson, Michael (Kelly) Keefer of Champaign; twin grandsons, Spencer and Oliver Baker; step grandsons, Cody, Caleb, and Carter Keefer; sisters, Janice M. Baker of Champaign, and Mary Ann (Ron) Edmison of Mahomet.
Neal attended Arcola schools until moving to Urbana where he graduated from Urbana High School Class of 1965. He graduated from a trade school in Kansas City, Missouri and was employed at the University of Illinois Building Services for 30 years.
Neal was honorably discharged from the United States Army after serving in Vietnam and Germany.
He had a lifetime interest in trains and had a collection of Lionel trains.
Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 6, 2025 at the Shrader Funeral Home, 204 N. Locust Street, Arcola, with the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Arcola Cemetery.
