Obituary

Mildred L. "Millie" Oakley, 78, of Tuscola, IL, passed away at 2:15 p.m., Saturday, October 27, 2012 at her residence surrounded by her family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at the Forty Martyrs Catholic Church, 201 East Van Allen Street, Tuscola, IL with Father Barry Harmon as celebrant. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL. A Vigil Service will be held at 7:15 p.m., on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Tuscola Township Cemetery, Tuscola, IL.

Millie was born on July 29, 1934 in Hume, IL, the daughter of Bernard and Georgia Rooney Barrett. She married Jack L. Oakley on February 11, 1956 in Hume, IL. He survives.

Other survivors include 3 sons: Neil (Darlene) Oakley of Rantoul, IL, Jeff (Mindy) Oakley of Hudson, IL, Mark (Tracy) Oakley of Bloomington, IL, daughter: Janice (Daniel) Cain of Plainfield, IL, 8 grandchildren: Robert Oakley, Elaine Hall, Matthew Oakley, Zachary Cain, Chay Cain, Jake Oakley, Madison Oakley and Patrick Button, 7 great-grandchildren, brother: Gene (Helen) Barrett of Hume, IL, sisters: Helen (Kenneth) Rhodes of Newman, IL and Geneva (Jerry) Edwards of Danville, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers: Joe Barrett, Urban Barrett, Robert Barrett, Bill Barrett and George Barrett and 3 sisters: Rita Clarke, Dorothy Johnson and Eleanor Hettinger.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Sarah Bush Lincoln Regional Cancer Center or Lincolnland Hospice.

Millie retired from Littelfuse in Arcola, IL, where she worked as a quality control specialist for 20 years. She was a member of Forty Martyrs Catholic Church and Altar Society. Millie was a member of the Tuscola Moose Lodge. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, putting together jigsaw puzzles, walking, exercising and traveling with friends. Millie loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
