Maynard Aloysius Kappes, 80, of Arcola, formerly of Tuscola, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 19, 2022.

Maynard was born on March 15, 1942 in Tuscola, the oldest son of John J. and Irene E. Kocher Kappes. After graduating from Tuscola High School, Maynard helped his dad on the farm from 1960 to 1965. After that, he obtained a CDL and purchased a semi that led to a career as a truck driver for many years. His interest in farming activities continued throughout his life.

Maynard is survived by one son, Parrish Kappes, three brothers: Gary Kappes, Norbert Kappes and Dennis Kappes as well as two sisters: Kathleen White and Karen Brian. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

His wife, Nancy, preceded in death in 2004. Also preceding him in death were his parents, John and Irene Kappes and two brothers: Kenneth Kappes and Kevin Kappes.

Maynard chose to be cremated. There will be no services per his wishes. Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home is assisting the family.
