Max E. Stabler, 78, of Tuscola, IL, passed away at 9:55 a.m., Thursday, March 21, 2013 at the Capitol Healthcare and Rehab Center, Springfield, IL
Graveside Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, March 25, 2013 at the Tuscola Township Cemetery, Tuscola, IL, with Father Barry Harmon officiating. Private family visitation will be held. Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL is entrusted with the arrangements.
Max was born on October 12, 1934 in Tuscola, IL, the son of Oscar and Geneva Barnett Stabler. He married Neta Ray Wagner on June 4, 1957 in Hume, IL. She preceded him in death on June 22, 1994.
Survivors include his son: Tony K. (Judi) Stabler of Riverton, IL, 2 step-granddaughters: Mary Galassi and Dani Chepulis, 3 step-great-grandchildren, 2 brothers: Larry (Carol) Stabler of Fredericksburg, VA, and Ronnie Stabler of Tuscola, IL, 3 sisters: Joan (Norm) Fasig of Ridge Crest, CA, Judy (Kenny) Cler of Camargo, IL and Linda Hamilton of Florissant, MO
He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers: John, Robert and Bernie Stabler and sisters: Rita Payton and Sister Mary Helen Stabler.
Max was a retired construction laborer and member of the Central Illinois Laborers Union. He enjoyed archery and playing cards and playing pool with his friends and family members.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
