Mavis was born August 5, 1936 in Mattoon, the daughter of Thomas R. and Julia Mae Lowe Kenny. She married Duane L. Wetzel in Mattoon on March 6, 1959; he survives.

She loved to play cards, especially gin rummy and bridge. She enjoyed duplicate and party bridge with her clubs on Thursday. She also enjoyed playing bingo at the Legion in Mattoon and also in Sarasota.
