Mary Virginia Wheeler, 91, of Champaign, IL, formerly of Tuscola, IL, passed away at 3:00 pm Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at the Provena Covenant Medical Center, Urbana, IL.

Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 3, 2011 at the Tuscola Township Cemetery, Tuscola, IL with Rev. Carol Lakota Eastin officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services on Saturday at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Rantoul.

Mrs. Wheeler was born on November 20, 1919 in Farmer City, IL, the daughter of Robert H. and Maude Nydegger Knight. She married Thomas O. Wheeler on November 24, 1943 in Farmer City, IL. He preceded her in death on September 26, 2003.

She is survived by her children: Darlene (Bill) Myers of Urbana, IL; Diane Warfel of Champaign, IL; Tom Wheeler (Nancy Darrell) of Bluffton, SC; 2 brothers: Raymond Knight of Bakersfield, CA; Lyle Knight of Farmer City, IL and many loving nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind 5 grandchildren: Kris Brown of Liberty City, TX; Alan (Monica) Myers of Champaign, IL; Beth (Neil) Bidner of Mahomet, IL; Cathy Wheeler of Tuscola, IL; Brett (Alyssa) Wheeler of Chatham, IL; 4 step-grandchildren: Craig (Sheri) Myers of Monticello, IL: Wendy (Bill) Harmon of Morrisonville, IL; Melissa (Brandon) Shafer of Atlanta, GA; and Tom (Shauna) Darrell of Wisconsin; 8 great- grandchildren: Kelly Stevens of Dallas, TX; Coby Stevens and Sara Brown of Liberty City, TX; Sydney Finke and Myia Vargas both of Tuscola, IL; Robbie Myers of Champaign, IL; Megan V. Bidner of Mahomet, IL (Mary's namesake) and Asher Wheeler of Chatham, IL; 7 step-great grandchildren: Cameron and Mackenzie Harmon of Morrisonville, IL; Zoe and Zanna Myers of Monticello, IL: Britney Shafer of Atlanta, GA; Madison and Russell Darrell of Wisconsin.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers: Bob and Duane Knight, her identical twin sister: Mildred Burwell and son-in-law: Roy Warfel.

She lived most of her life in Tuscola and had many good friends and memories. After the death of her husband, she moved to Round Barn Manor in Champaign¸ IL, which she loved as well as all the wonderful friends she's made there.

She woke up happy every single day, she was a wonderful loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

We were blessed by GOD to have been given this wonderful woman to be in our lives. She brought sunshine everywhere she walked in her life.

Mary was a LIFELONG CUBS FAN and bingo player.
