Mary Ellen (Canfield) Wachob, 83, of Arthur, passed away at 8:21 AM Sunday, March 4, 2012 at the Arthur Home.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at the Arthur Cemetery with Rev. John Stewart officiating. There will be no visitation. Shrader Funeral Home, 431 S. Vine Street, Arthur, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mary Ellen was born September 18, 1928 in Arthur the daughter of Lester and Jessie Thompson Canfield. She married Joseph Earl Wachob in Decatur on June 16, 1951; he preceded her in death on Sept. 7, 1996.
Survivors include her daughter, Joellen Preston of Arthur; grandson, Joseph Taylor of Villa Grove; granddaughters, Kathryn Preston of Brazil, Indiana; Rebecca Preston of Terre Haute, Indiana; great grandsons, Ethan Taylor of Tuscola; Gavin Taylor of Villa Grove; special cousins, Nathan and Jackie. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Ralph Canfield; husband, Earl; and her special cousin, Susan Sallee Bell.
Mary Ellen was a graduate of Arthur High School Class of 1946. She retired from General Electric in Mattoon. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Fighting Illini Fan.
Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church of Arthur.
