Mary Ellen Key 83, of Sullivan, IL passed away at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at the Courtyard Estates Sullivan, IL.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 10, 2020 at the Humboldt Cemetery with Pastor Dave Dolan officiating.  Shrader Funeral Home, 204 North Locust Street, Arcola, IL is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Mrs. Key was born April 30, 1937 in Mattoon, IL the daughter of Elmer and Neva Bennett Sutton.  She married Thomas O. Key in Humboldt, IL on October 5, 1955.  He preceded her in death on November 16, 1970.

She is survived by her son: Thomas O. Key and wife Anita of Sullivan; grandchildren: Shayna Helton and husband Derrick of Maroa and Zeth Key and wife Dawnaya of Sullivan; 5 great-grandchildren: Laila Key, Lorele Key, Hope Helton, Zeryk Key and Zeya Key.

Mrs. Key was preceded in death by her parents and daughter: Cheryl Key.

Mary graduated from Mattoon High School in 1955 and the Decatur School of Beauty Culture.  She worked at Reed Communications, was in quality control at Kraft Foods and as an office manager at Professional Electronics Communications.  Mary taught Sunday school for 17 years at the Sullivan First Christian Church.  She was a member of the Humboldt Methodist Church and attended New Life Tabernacle in Sullivan.
