Mary Belle Eckel Cochran, 88, of Atwood, IL, passed away at 1:20 a.m., Sunday, November 5, 2017 at St. Mary's Hospital, Decatur, IL

Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 9, 2017 at the Mackville Cemetery, Atwood, IL. No visitation will be held. Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, Atwood, IL is handling the arrangements.

Mary Belle was born on June 1, 1929 in Detroit, MI, the daughter of Verdie Oliver and Mary Frances Woods Eckel. She married Robert E. Cochran on October 4, 1947 in Decatur, IL. He preceded her in death on May 16, 2012.

Survivors include her daughter: Patricia Lynn Connour of Decatur, granddaughters: Malora (Doug) Snyder of Atwood, and Lashelle (Mike) Plank of Arthur, great-grandchildren: Nathaniel, Gracie, Annie, Maddie, Dustin and Colton, special friend: Sid Ferguson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, infant son: Danny Wayne Cochran, brothers: Dick and Bud, sisters: Virginia, Sylvia and Zelphia.

Mary Belle worked as an insurance underwriter for Pyramid Insurance Company. She was a very active member and served as a past worthy matron of the Lovington Order of the Eastern Star. She was a longtime quilting enthusiast.

Her daughter would like to especially thank the staff of Heritage Manor in Mt. Zion for taking very good care of her mother for the past several years.

Memorials are suggested to the Humane Society or a pet shelter of the donor's choice.
