Mary Jean Barnes, 84, of Tuscola, IL, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at the Tuscola Health Care Center Tuscola, IL.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 21, 2013 at the Tuscola Township Cemetery with the Rev. Patty Johansen officiating. No visitation will be held. The Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Mary Jean was born September 27, 1928 in Tuscola, IL, the daughter of David L. and Hazel Miller Rice, Sr. She married Guy E. Barnes on June 17, 1950 at the Rice Home in Camargo, IL. He preceded her in death on September 20, 1993.

She is survived by her only daughter: Becky Hollensbe and her husband: Tom of Tuscola, IL; her only granddaughter: Mindy Hollins and husband: Diego of Avon, IN and her only great-granddaughter: Paige Fullerton, a student at the University of Southern Indiana. She is also survived by her special friend and fishing buddy: Don Moody of Tuscola, IL. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mary Jean was preceded in death by her three older brothers: Jim Rice of California, David "Bud" Rice of Tuscola and her "Little
Brother" John Rice of Aroma Park.

Mary Jean was a homemaker throughout her married years. She loved dancing with her brother John and later, her husband, Guy. They always made quite a sensation of the dance floor. Mary Jean was a die hard "fisher-woman" and spent many hours on the lake with Don. She enjoyed going to the casinos and was almost always a winner. Mary Jean loved spending time with her family and friends.
