Mary Rose Andres, 96, of Arcola, died at 11:03 PM Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at her residence in Arcola.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 26, 2014 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Arcola, with Rev. Delix Michel officiating. Burial will follow in the Arcola Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral at the church with rosary at
10:00 AM. Shrader Funeral Home, 204 N. Locust Street, Arcola, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mary was born December 11, 1917 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the daughter of David and Mary Colletta Markley Brown. She was raised by Pauline and Charles McCauley. She married Robert Andres in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania on October 2, 1947; he preceded her in death on March 12, 1993.

Survivors include several cousins, nieces, and nephews; special friends, Lena and Homer Ramsey and their extended family of Arcola ; caregivers, Jeanie Tomlin, Janice York, Sherry Lyons, Pam Conlin, and Lena Ramsey. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 1 sister.

Mary had retired from the Pittsburgh VA Hospital on December 30, 1973 where she worked in the food service for 32 years. Then she and Bob moved back to Arcola.

Mary was an active member of St. John's Catholic Church until her health did not allow her to do so. She was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society and served as Sacristian for Father Michael, Father Joe, and Father Al. She recently was recognized as Distinguished Person of St. John the Baptist Church by the Springfield Diocese for her many years of volunteer work in the church.

Mary enjoyed quilting, embroidery work, sewing, and working puzzles.
