Martin E. Cox, 90, of Pesotum, IL, passed away at 12:30 a.m. Saturday, April 7, 2018 at the Tuscola Health Care Center, Tuscola, IL.
Graveside Services with Military Rites will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at the Arthur Cemetery, Arthur, IL with Rev. Joe Carter officiating. Visitation will be held at 10 am, Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at the Shrader Funeral Home, 431 South Vine Street, Arthur, IL.
Mr. Cox was born April 6, 1928 in Dawson Springs, KY the son of Ezra Martin and Beulah McDaniel Cox. He married Bonnie L. Collins. She survives.
Other survivors include 3 sons: Steve (Kathy) Cox of Indianapolis, IN; Michael (Ginny) Cox of Benton, KY and John (Porcia) Cox of Benton, KY; 7 daughters: Marletta Barrick of Indianapolis, IN; Deborah Kaden of Pesotum, IL; Marla (Terry) Morris of Pesotum, IL; Janet Finley of Centralia, Sylvia (Tony) Taylor of Benton, KY; Joyce Ragle of Pesotum, IL and Joy (Jerry) Gabel of Urbana, IL; sister: June Lisanby of Savoy, IL, 19 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and a great-great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter: Sherry (Dennis) Schable, sister: Dorothy Stivers, brother: Cecil "Bud" Garrett.
Martin was a United States Navy Veteran. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. He worked as a conductor for Illinois Central Railroad for over 40 years.
A special "Thank You" to "Harmony Center" at the Odd Fellow Rebekah Home in Mattoon, IL and the Tuscola Health Care Center in Tuscola, IL for all the wonderful care and support they provided.
