Martha G. Beck, 96, of Savoy, IL, formerly of Tuscola, IL, passed away at 9:14 a.m. Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at Windsor Court, Savoy, IL.
Private Family Graveside services will be held on Sunday, May 10, 2015 at the Tuscola Township Cemetery, Tuscola, IL. No visitation will be held. Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street Tuscola, IL has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Mrs. Beck was born December 28, 1918 in Somerset, KY, the daughter of Stuart Hutton and Ella Mae Henry Frye. She married Charles A. Beck in 1952. He preceded her in death on October 12, 2008.
Martha is survived by her daughters: Marilyn Bohlen and husband Bill of Urbana, and Christine Perry of Tuscola, 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, 3 sisters and a great-grandson.
Martha was the owner/operator at Tuscola Beauty Salon for 20 years. Martha received her Bachelor and Master's degree from Eastern
Illinois University. She taught at Prairie School and Danville Junior High before her retirement. She was a baptized member of the Christian Church. She enjoyed traveling in the United States and overseas. Martha loved to read and spend time with her family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Douglas County Museum Association or Carle Hospice.
