Marjorie A. Kearns, 86, of Atwood, IL, passed away at 10:15 p.m., Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at her residence.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 13, 2009 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 66 East US Highway 36, Atwood, IL, with the Rev. Joseph Carter officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. on Saturday until time of services. Burial will be in the Cartwright Cemetery, rural Tuscola, IL.

Marjorie was born on April 15, 1923 in rural Tuscola, IL, the daughter of Kenneth and Zelma Howe Burtner. She married George A. Kearns on October 8, 1949 in Arcola, IL. He preceded her in death on August 9, 2001.

Survivors include her children: Jerrie Greer and husband: William of Decatur, IL, Wesley Kearns and wife: Kandace of Rantoul, IL, Clyde Kearns of Arcola, IL, David Kearns and wife: Vicky of Decatur, IL, Terry Kearns of Charleston, IL, Larry Kearns of Tampa, FL and Daniel Mapel and wife: Lisa of Arcola, IL, 12 Grandchildren: Marcellan Grimsley and husband: Dan, Amanda Quinn and husband: Mark, Brooks Whitlow and wife: Carol, Matt Evans and wife: Sue, Adam Kearns and wife: Samantha, Ashley Kearns and boyfriend: Geno Martin, Dustin Kearns, Bridgette Kearns, Karen Kearns, Allen Kearns, Melissa Kearns and Caitlin Kearns, 24 Great-Grandchildren and Many Foster Children , Grand and Great Grand Foster Children.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 sister and 1 great-grandson.

Marjorie was a homemaker and foster mother to many. She was a member of the Tuscola Church of the Nazarene. The family would like to thank DMH Hospice for the excellent care provided to their loved one.
