Obituary

Marilyn Jean Rose, 77, of Tuscola, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at 2:47 p.m. Saturday (Dec. 19, 2015) at her home at the Jarman Center Senior Living Apartments. She had previously lived in Clarkesville, Ga., for 15 years.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, Tuscola, with the funeral services to follow at 11 a.m. A graveside service will take place at 2 p.m. at the Glen Cemetery, Paxton.

Marilyn was born in Paxton on May 14, 1938, a daughter of Elmer and Edna Olson, and graduated from Paxton High School in 1956. She married Fred Rose on June 17, 1956. The couple divorced in 1960, but remarried on June 17, 1981, exactly 25 years after their first marriage. Her husband died in 1997.

She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Pringle (Kirby) of Tuscola; two stepsons, Fred Rose of Rochelle and Craig Rose of Wheaton; two brothers, Robert Olson (Mary Lee) of Lakeland, Fla., and Alan Olson (Jeannine) of Morgan Hill, Calif.; two nieces; three nephews; and one step-grandson.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

Marilyn was a retired secretary with the Social Security Administration. She was a devout Christian. Her Earthly walk with Christ was an inspiration to all who met her. One of her greatest joys was to share the love of Christ through her biannual newsletters, started in 1963, that she enjoyed sending to friends and family around the world.

Memorials may be made to the Marilyn Rose Monarch Butterfly Fund, in care of First State Bank, 801 S. Main St., Tuscola, IL. 61953.
