Marilyn Sue Patterson, 71, of Tuscola, IL, passed away at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, September 3, 2009, at Provena Covenant Medical Center, Urbana, IL.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., on Saturday, September 5, 2009, at Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, September 6, 2009, at Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City, IL, with Rev. Dale Tomas officiating.

Sue was born on November 12, 1937, in Boyleston, IL, daughter of Robert Lee and Mary Alice (Clark) Sumner. She married William A. Patterson on March 2, 1958, in Keenes, IL.

Sue is survived by her husband: William of Tuscola, IL, children: Tammy (Patterson) Stevens and husband, Gary, of Carlyle, IL, Diana Patterson and husband, Will Lentz, of Fairbanks, AK, grandchildren: Chad Griesheimer, Erin Griesheimer, Betheny (Stevens) Pleacher and husband, Jason, Andrew Stevens and wife, Amanda, Jaclyn Stevens, Jesse Lentz, and Sam Lentz, great-grandchildren: Alex Dick and Taryn Pleacher, sisters: Sara Skinner of Columbia, MO, Robley Weakley of Mountain View, MO, and Becky Puckett and husband, John, of Mill Shoals, IL, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Nancy Patterson.

Sue attended school in Fairfield, IL, and cosmetology school in Centralia, IL. She was an avid quilter, always enjoyed a good book, and to tend her garden. One of her favorite activities was to get down on the floor to play with her grandchildren and their toys. She loved all animals and was known for attracting and taking care of stray cats and dogs.
