Marie E. Owen, 89, of Tuscola, IL, passed away at 3:55 p.m., Friday, February 22, 2019 at OSF Heart of Mary Medical Center, Urbana, IL

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Thursday, February 28, 2019 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL, with Rev. Terri Haas officiating. Burial will follow in the Tuscola Township Cemetery.

Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

Marie was born on April 20, 1929 at Greenville, IL, the daughter of Clarence and Myrtle Enloe Clouse. She married Maurice L. Owen on July 27, 1958 in Greenville, IL. He preceded her in death on August 8, 1987.

Survivors include her nieces and nephews: Dale (Linda) Miles of Christopher, Eva Rexroad of FL, Carol (Bob) Patterson of Tuscola, Barbara Rich of Benton, Betty Phillips of Macedonia, Allen (Betty June) Miles of Benton, Dean Miles of MO, Beverly (Jim) Eldridge of Benton and Nancy (Tom) Sieveking of Marion, a number of great nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews, special lifelong friend: Betty Wiekert.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister: Verna Miles.

Marie graduated from Greenville High School in 1947 and Greenville College in 1952. She earned her master's degree from Eastern Illinois University in 1965.

She was an avid educator, having taught 5 ^th and 6 ^th grade math and science at Arcola and Arthur schools.

Marie was a member of the Tuscola United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Tuscola Women's Club, DAR and Douglas County Retired Teachers Association.

She loved playing bridge, her dogs and traveling. She visited 6 of the 7 continents and her favorite place was London, England which she visited 9 times.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Tuscola United Methodist Church.
