Marian Louise Northcott Ponder, 81, of Tuscola, IL, passed away at 11:35 A.M., Friday, May 4, 2007 at the Tuscola Health Care Center, Tuscola, IL.
She was born on July 3, 1925 in Wisconsin. She was the daughter of the late Bishop H. Clifford Northcott and the late Florence Engle Northcott. Marian attended Northwestern University before graduating from the University of Illinois with her teaching degree in 1949.
Marian married Dan A. Ponder on July 16, 1946 in Champaign, IL. Their home was in Racine, Wisconsin while Dan was employed with J.I. Case Co. They moved back to the family farm in Tuscola in the fall of 1952.
Marian was preceded in death by her Parents. She is survived by her husband: Dan of Tuscola; her daughter; Pamela Fennewald of Libertyville, IL; her son: Clifford Ponder of Tuscola, IL, her son-in-law: Michael Fennewald of Libertyville, IL, her daughter-in-law: Kimberly Livezey-Ponder of Tuscola; and her three granddaughters: Corinne Ponder and Katrina Ponder of Tuscola, IL, and Elizabeth Fennewald of Libertyville, IL, sister-in-law: Marjorie Ponder Reisdorf of Okemos, MI
Marian was a member of the Tuscola United Methodist Church, Gamma Phi Beta Sorority, Douglas County Republican Women, and the former Jarman Hospital Auxillary. She taught swimming for the American Red Cross and she taught as a substitute teacher and general education instructor in the Tuscola schools.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M., on Monday, May 7, 2007 at the Tuscola United Methodist Church, 901 North Prairie Street, Tuscola, IL followed by a memorial service at 11:00 A.M.
Her remains will be placed in the Tuscola United Methodist Church Columbarium.
