Margaret Louise "Peg" Pettitt, 99, of Tuscola, IL, passed away at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at the Arthur Home of natural causes.

Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., on Monday, October 24, 2011 at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Hoult Cemetery, rural Chrisman, IL.

Peg was born on October 1, 1912 in Edgar, IL, the daughter of Donald and Mayme Henderson Stanfield. She married James M. Pettitt on February 5, 1934 in Champaign, IL. He preceded her in death on February 8, 1973.

Survivors include her son: James Myron "Jim" Pettitt III of Falls Church, VA, daughter: Margaret L. "Peggy" Jensen and husband: Marvin of Rochelle, IL, grandchildren: Brian (Jackie) Jensen, Michael (Joanna) Jensen, Kevin (Rabab) Pettitt and Damon (Adie) Pettitt, great-grandchildren: Michael P., Connor, Elle, Michael C., Erica, Gunnar, Faizaan, Finley and Hayden.

She was preceded by a brother and a sister.

Mrs. Pettitt was a 1930 graduate of Chrisman High School and attended MacMurray College in Jacksonville, IL. She also attended the University of Illinois and Millikin University.
Peg was a homemaker as well as assisting her husband in his two photo studios in Tuscola and Paris. Following his death, she continued to operate the businesses in Pettitt Place Studio in Tuscola.

She taught gymnastics for many years and she taught "Body Recall" at Parkland College.

She was a member of the Tuscola United Methodist Church, Edgar United Methodist Church, Chrisman Shakespeare Club and the Douglas County Museum Association.

Memorials are suggested to the Douglas County Museum Association or Lincolnland Hospice.
