Long-time Tuscola resident Lucille Murray passed away, surrounded by her family, on April 15, 2020.

Lucille was born March 25th, 1932 in Granite City, Illinois to Robert Francis and Evelyn Josephine Schmidt Burris.

The daughter of a military officer, Lucille moved extensively as a child and graduated from high school in Nagoya Japan. She earned her college degrees from Blackburn College and Eastern Illinois University where she met Eugene Murray. Lucille and Eugene married June 4th, 1956 in Medora, Illinois. The couple had seven children and resided in Tuscola for over 50 years.

Lucille was involved in the Tuscola Library Board, Jarman Hospital Auxiliary, Forty Martyrs Catholics Church Altar Society, 4-H as a leader, and helped charter the Douglas County Museum.

She is survived by her children: Christina Jones, Theresa (James) Mravca, Catherine Murray, Mark (Janet) Murray, John Murray, Mary Murray, Sarah (Thomas) Fellabaum, her grandchildren Zachary (Milena) Jones, Caitlin (Adam) Kownacki, David, Joseph and Samantha Mravca, Margaret, Jack and Emma Fellabaum, Tony (Holly) DiNello, Jennifer and Haley DiNello, great-grandchildren Lillian and Hazel Kownacki, Sofia and Olivia Jones, and Hazel and Cyril DiNello. A large extended family and lifelong friends survive Lucille.

She was proceeded in death by her husband, Gene, her parents, a sister Margaret "Joie" Burris and her mother-in-law, Lois Murray.

Graveside services will be held at Tuscola Township Cemetery on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. with a luncheon to follow at Forty Martyrs Catholic School Hall.

The family suggests memorials to the Tuscola Public Library or the Douglas County Museum.
