Lucile Kate Reed, 94, of Monticello, formerly of Cisco, died at 10:30 AM Monday, June 11, 2012 at the Piatt County Nursing Home, Monticello.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, June 14, 2012 at the VanVoorhis Cemetery, Hindsboro, with Rev. John Stewart officiating. Shrader Funeral Home, 204 N. Locust Street, Arcola, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Lucile was born May 1, 1918 near Hindsboro, the daughter of Oscar and Catherine Rhiner Guthridge. She married Don Frederick Reed in Hindsboro on December 31, 1952; he preceded her in death on Sept. 27, 1999.
Survivors include 2 grandsons, Paul Clark of Monticello; Matthew Clark of Little Rock, Arkasas; niece, Betty Deters of Toledo; nephews, Jim Guthridge of Lovington, Paul and Charles Guthridge both of Hindsboro. She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Mary Swarts; son, Gary Don Reed, and brothers, Teil and Top Guthridge.
Lucile graduated from Eastern Illinois Teacher's College in Charleston and taught school for 37 years at Oak Grove, Kemp, and Cisco. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Monticello; Auxiliary Legion Post #1181; Order of Eastern Star of Argenta; and IL Retired Teachers Association.
Memorials are suggested to the Piatt County Nursing Home, 1111 N. State Street, Monticello, IL 61856.
