Lowell F. Sebens, 86, of Atwood, IL, passed away at 5:00 A.M., Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at the Manor Care Health Services, Champaign, IL, where a prayer service with their loved one was held.

Graveside Services will be held at 11 A.M., Friday, October 26, 2007 at the Lake Fork Cemetery, rural Atwood, IL, with the Rev. Jean Pennell officiating. Military Graveside Rites will be accorded by the James Reeder American Legion Post #770, Atwood, IL. The family will greet friends following the service at the Lake Fork United Church of Christ, where a luncheon will be held. Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 66 East US Highway 36, Atwood, IL is handling the arrangements.

Mr. Sebens was born on August 27, 1921 in Bement, IL, the son of Frank and Callie Romine Sebens. He married Nadene Woods on August 14, 1949 in Atwood, IL. She survives.

Mike Sebens and wife: Judy of Champaign, IL, 1 Brother: Dale Sebens of Clinton, IA, 1 Sister: Wilma Fay of Atwood, IL, 3 Grandchildren: Jocelyn Browning and husband; Mark, Shelby Sebens and Dr. Matthew Sebens, 1 Great-Granddaughter: Paige Browning and 1 Step-Great-Granddaughter: Julia Browning.

He was preceded in death by his Parents and 1 Sister: Ruth Albright.

Mr. Sebens was a carpenter, home builder and road maintenance worker. He retired from the Douglas County Highway Department. He formerly served as Garrett Township Clerk and Garrett Township Road Commissioner. Mr. Sebens was a World War II US Army Air Forces Veteran. He was a 60 year member and past commander of the James Reeder American Legion Post #770, Atwood, IL. Mr. Sebens enjoyed building model ships.
