H. Lorraine Montgomery, 90, of Arthur, formerly of Monticello, passed away at 12:30 AM, Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at Mason Point in Sullivan.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, October 27, 2012 at the Arthur Cemetery with Rev. Leroy Allison officiating. Shrader Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Lorraine was born January 2, 1922, a daughter of Francis and Grace Helen Cork Steck of rural Arthur. She married Forrest W. Montgomery on July 23, 1949, and they resided in Monticello for 42 years before retiring to Arthur in 1991. He preceded her in death on May 10, 1993.

Lorraine is survived by her two children; Frances (Steve) Moore of Florissant, Missouri; and Forrest (Bobbie) Montgomery, Jr. of Lovington; one brother, Charles Steck of Arthur; four grandsons, Tony (Marsha) Moore of Florissant, Missouri; Blake (Shari) Moore of Lafayette, Indiana; Jason (Kristie) Montgomery of Monticello; and Adam (Margie) Montgomery of Elgin; four great grandchildren, Jocelyn and Camryn Moore of Lafayette; and Carter and Noah Montgomery of Monticello. She was preceded in death by her parents and a twin brother, Loren Steck.

After graduating from Eastern Illinois Teacher's College in Charleston, Lorraine taught at Mentzer, Dry Ridge, and Eureka Moultrie Country Schools. After moving to Monticello, she taught kindergarten there. After retiring from teaching, she worked at Neal's Bakery and Raycraft Drugs. She was a member of the Arthur United Methodist Church.
