Loretta Mae Logsdon, 81, of Atwood, IL, passed away at 8:19 a.m., Saturday, August 1, 2009 at the Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, IL, after a courageous battle with COPD.
Funeral Services celebrating her life will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 66 East US Highway 36, Atwood, IL, with the Rev. Conrad Heisner officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Mackville Cemetery, Atwood, IL
Mrs. Logsdon was born on August 29, 1927 in Bazine, KS, the daughter of Frederick and Linda Tittle Wittman. She married George F. Logsdon on January 4, 1947 in Hutchinson, KS. He survives.
She and her husband lived in Great Bend, KS, where their son Mark was born. They moved to Texarkana, AR where their son Mike was born.
The family moved to Atwood in 1967, where they have resided for the past 42 years.
Other survivors include her sons: Mark Logsdon and wife: Elaine of Huntsville, AL, Michael Logsdon and wife: Melissa of Ballwin, MO, 2 Granddaughters: Aimee Sue Nevitt and Cassandra Logsdon, 1 Great-Granddaughter: Savannah Nevitt, 1 Brother: Freddy Wittman of Stone Park, IL, 1 Sister: Marjorie Hoverland of Highland, CA.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister: Doris Christy

Loretta was a loving wife, sister, mother and grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of the Lake Fork United Church of Christ, Women's Fellowship and the American Legion Auxiliary. Loretta was the former secretary and treasurer of the T.I.N.G. Credit Union and she also worked at the Atwood Hardware Store for many years.
