Lois Angelene Reames Wolfe, 81 of Hammond passed away at 1:52 pm Monday, March 21st, 2011 at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, Illinois.
Lois was born in Rush County, Indiana to Randolph and Evalena Reames on June 12, 1929. She married Robert Wolfe on June 26, 1949 in Carthage, Indiana. He survives.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 am, Saturday, March 26, 2011 at the First Baptist Church, 231 North Illinois Street, Atwood, IL, with Pastor Clyde Masten and Dr. Lanny Faulkner officiating. Visitation will be 5-8pm Friday at the church. Burial will be in the Hammond Cemetery, Hammond, IL

She is also survived by her children, Joe (Sherrie) Wolfe of Atwood; Margie Reynolds of Decatur; and Marilyn (Mark) Gustin of St. Charles, Missouri. Grandchildren include Jason Wolfe, Gregg Allison, Adam Titus, Heidie and True Neese. Great-Grandchildren include Hudson Wolfe, Alexandria Stratton, Echo Neese, and Anne Molina.
She was preceded in death by her step-mother, Mary Ann Reames; her sister, Avalon Reames, and granddaughter Emily Neese.
Lois was a railroad station agent/telegraph operator for over forty years, employed by the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad. She worked in Indiana before moving to Hammond, Illinois to work. She taught private piano lessons to countless students for approximately sixty years. She was an active member of the Decatur Area Music Teachers Association. She was known for her unique piano recitals, showcasing the talents of her students. She was very active in the Hammond United Methodist Church for over sixty years. She became choir director in 1950 and directed several choirs in the church. In 1974, she founded the Alleluia Singers, a non-denominational choir, who performed concerts throughout the State of Illinois for thirty-five years. She started The Mirror, a monthly church newsletter, and was organist/pianist for the church for over sixty years. For many years she participated in United Methodist Women and Friendship Circle.
She was a member of True Kindred Lodge #15 in Champaign; Order of Eastern Star Chapter 39, Sullivan; and was the Supreme Organist. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary (James Reeder Post); the Red Hat Club and the Lois Club. She was a former Queen of the Breakfast Club (an amateur ham radio club with the call number of N9BQD). She organized the AFS student exchange program in the Atwood-Hammond school district and hosted three foreign exchange students.
She loved her cats, dogs, flowers, and collected angels. She loved people as much as her music. She will be missed terribly by her family and friends.
