Obituary

Lloyd Alfred Harshbarger, 92, loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather was welcomed into the open arms of his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, August 1, 2006. He passed away at Champaign County Nursing Home, Urbana, IL

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, August 4, 2006 at the Morgan Memorial Home, 1304 Regency Drive West, Savoy, Illinois. Visitation will be held 6-8 P.M., Thursday, August 3, 2006 at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Mt. Olive Cemetery, Mayview, IL, with military graveside rites accorded.

He was born January 27, 1914, a son of Lloyd A. and Naomi J. Harshbarger. He was born and raised on the family farm North of Atwood, IL. In 1941, he married Thelma Helen Swartz, also from Atwood, she survives.
Other survivors include his son, Dennis L. Harshbarger, Sidney, IL; Three grandsons, Daniel L. Harshbarger, Morton, IL; Michael A. Harshbarger, rural Ogden, IL and Randall R. Harshbarger, Philo, IL, Five great-grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by his mother, father and three brothers, Cloyd A. Harshbarger (Lloyd's infant twin), Herschel L. Harshbarger and Charles E. Harshbarger all from the Atwood area.

He served active duty in the U.S. Army during World War II. After his discharge, he returned to the Champaign/Urbana, IL area where he had begun work for Eisner Food Stores in 1939. Lloyd worked a total of sixty years for what was Eisner Foods and later became a part Jewel Foods Inc., retiring in 1999.
He was an active member of the Urbana Foursquare Gospel Church. Lloyd will be remembered for his love of music and singing, his easy going jovial attitude, his dedication to his family and as an ever kind and gentle man.
