Lillie M. Whitcher, 96, of Tuscola, IL, formerly of Paris, IL, passed away at 9:44 pm, Sunday, November 28, 2010 at the Tuscola Health Care Center, Tuscola, IL

Private family graveside services will be held. Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL is handling the arrangements.

Mrs. Whitcher was born on October 8, 1914 in Moorhead, MS, the daughter of Ora Louella and Laura May Watkins Flickner. She married Winfield B. Whitcher on June 26, 1943 in Paris, IL. He preceded her in death on August 31, 1957.

Survivors include her son: John Charles Whitcher and wife: Debbie of Aurora, IL, daughter: Beverly Bennett and husband: Tom of Tuscola, IL, 5 grandchildren: Jennifer Bender and husband: Tim, Robert Bennett and wife: Cathy, Sarah Bennett, Julie Brim and Jason Wolff, 4 great-grandchildren: Emily Wolff, Olivia Bennett, Andrew Bennett and Samuel Bender

She was preceded in death by her parents and 5 brothers.

Memorials are suggested to the Tuscola United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Whitcher graduated from Sunflower Junior College in Moorhead, MS. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Delta State Teacher's College in 1939. She earned her Masters' Degree in Education from Eastern Illinois University in 1970.
Mrs. Whitcher retired in 1979 as an elementary school teacher, she taught 2nd grade at Vance, Redmon and Mayo Elementary Schools all in Paris, IL. Upon her retirement, she relocated to Tuscola.
