Obituary

Lillian L. Kanitz, 94, of Tuscola, IL, passed away at 10:13 a.m., Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at the Presence Covenant Medical Center, Urbana, IL

Funeral Services celebrating her life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 28, 2013 at the Tuscola First Christian Church, 100 East Church Street, Tuscola, IL, with Rev. Jason Rennert officiating. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in the Arthur Cemetery, Arthur, IL. Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, Tuscola, IL, is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Lillian was born on March 26, 1919 in Arthur, IL, the daughter of Walter and Lucy Sefton Smith. She married Loyd R. Kanitz on June 1, 1947. He preceded her in death on February 16, 1984.

Survivors include her children: Dale Kanitz and wife: Cathy of Olney, IL, Judy Steffen and husband: Wayne of Fishers, IN, grandchildren: Eric Kanitz, Shane Kanitz and wife: Heather, Jeremy Kanitz and wife: Annie, Kristi Karcher, Elizabeth D'lima and husband: Vivek, Katelyn Carter and husband: Jim and Ashley Smith and husband: William, great-grandchildren: Maya D'lima, Ella D'lima, Lacey Kanitz, Brailey Kanitz, Kinzie Kanitz, Maci Kanitz, Chase Kanitz and Langston Abrams, nephew: Eddie Smith and wife: Gracie and niece: Nina Jones

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother: Charlie Smith, twin sister: Lilly Kanitz, sisters: Ruby Cordulack, Bonnie Ryan, Gladys Yaw and Rosemary Donaldson

Memorials are suggested to the Tuscola First Christian Church.

Lillian graduated from Utterback Business School in Mattoon, IL. Her first job was working for Hay's Freight Lines in Mattoon. She worked at USI Chemical Company in Tuscola for 12 years and retired from the University of Illinois, where she worked in the Administration Office for 17 years. Lillian was a member of the Tuscola First Christian Church.
Lillian enjoyed reading and being a homemaker.

She was a "Special Lady" and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
