Lila Lee Ghere, 85, of Arcola, died at 1:05 PM Monday, November 15, 2010, at the Arthur Home in Arthur.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday, November 18, 2010 at Shrader Funeral Home, 204 N. Locust Street, Arcola, with Rev. Drew Holloway officiating. Burial will follow in the Arcola Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.

Lila was born February 13, 1925 in Mattoon, the daughter of John Robert and Violet Koessler Irons. She was united in marriage to Albert Harrison "Harry" Ghere on June 14, 1942 in Mattoon.

Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Harry Ghere of Arcola; daughter, Connie Walton and husband Sam of Effingham; son, Ron Ghere and wife Connie of Mattoon; 6 grandchildren, Rob Walton and wife Linda of Chicago; Jeff Walton and wife Carissa of Effingham; Mark Walton and wife Heather of Evergreen, Alabama; Marissa Banovz and husband Jason of Bethalto; Ryan Ghere and wife Lori of Mattoon; Darcie Kiessling and husband Brian of Portage, Michigan; 14 great grandchildren, Blake Walton of Chicago; Brianna, Conner, and Ava Walton all of Effingham; Harrison, Kylee and Collin Walton all of Evergreen, Alabama; Justin Banovz of Bethalto; Jacob, Shane, Lily, and Maggie Ghere all of Mattoon; Alex and Claire Kiessling all of Portage, Michigan; sister-in-law, Rena Irons of Mattoon; and nephew, David Irons of Mattoon. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Dan Irons.

Lila owned and operated the L & H Flower Shop in Arcola from 1951 until 1971. She loved her flowers, sewing, her grandchildren, and especially spending time at Lake Mattoon.
