Les was born on July 24, 1950, to Kenton and Olga Hall in Parkersburg, West Virginia. He married Ellen Kay Kimery on August 19, 1972, in Neoga, Illinois.
He is survived by Ellen Hall of Tuscola, his loving wife; their children, Amy Vaughn Sims and her husband Jason of Indianapolis, Indiana, Andrew Kimery Hall of Tuscola and Ashley Ellen Gibson and her husband Frank of Pittsboro, Indiana; his grandchildren Michael, Matthew, and Leslie Grace Gibson. His brother Allen Hall of Broadlands and wife Janet, and his nieces Julie and her husband Tom and Jennifer Linville and her husband DJ; and his great nieces and nephew, Peyton and Parker Courson and Hope and Holly Linville.
He was a 1968 graduate of Tuscola High School and earned a degree from Eastern Illinois University. After graduating he worked in the grocery industry and in 1978, he started his banking career at Tuscola National Bank and served there till he retired in 2017. Les cherished the relationships with colleagues and clients he established over the course of his 39-year banking career.
Les was a member of the Tuscola Rotary Club and for over 60 years a member of the Tuscola United Methodist Church where he served in various capacities over the years.
His greatest love was spending time with his wife and family. He was very proud of his children and their accomplishments. Les was a loving grandfather and one of his greatest joys was to encourage and to teach them the value of a hard-earned dollar. Retirement summers found him at Lake Mattoon fishing with the grandchildren and visiting with lake neighbors. Retirement winters found him golfing in Fort Myers, Florida. Other interests included reading historical books, offering advice on the purchase of the best car or tennis shoes from reading the latest consumer report, and watching the grain and stock market.
Suggested memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Eastern Illinois Foodbank, and the Tuscola United Methodist Church.
