Leonard E. Ohnesorge, 100, of Arthur, IL passed away at 7:45 p.m. Monday, July 13, 2015 at the Arthur Home, Arthur, IL.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 17, 2015 at the Shrader Funeral Home, 431 South Vine St, Arthur, IL Pastor Duane Kuhns will officiate. Visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Arthur Cemetery Arthur, IL with military rites accorded.

Mr. Ohnesorge was born on May 7, 1915 in Effingham County, IL the son of John and Helena Hammer Ohnesorge. He married his soul mate, Ernetta G. Behen, on September 26, 1939 in St. Louis, MO and they spent 75 years together. She survives.

Other survivors include his daughter: Lynett Ball and husband: Chancey of Decatur; 2 grandchildren: Brian Ball and wife Heather of White Heath and Jodi Egan and husband Ben of Haymarket, VA; 3 great-grandchildren: Charlie and Brady Ball and Claire Egan.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Edward, John, Bill, Wilbert, Emery, Elsie and Erna.

Len was a World War II Army veteran and a 50+ year member of the American Legion. He would often say "he was jack of all trades master of none". He was a farm hand, milk hauler for Peverly Dairy, welder for Progress Industries and Bursa Trenching and a bartender. In later years, he was a driver for many of the local Amish, of which he made wonderful friends. He was an excellent gardener, growing some of the biggest tomatoes and turnips around. He loved baseball and basketball. Len would root for both the Cubs and Cardinals just "to keep the pot stirred" so to speak. He lived a full life through his 100th birthday. Len loved his family.
