Leonard Paul Jackson, Jr., 53, of Tuscola, IL, passed away at 8:15 a.m., EST, Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at the Indianapolis VA Medical Center, Indianapolis, IN
Services celebrating his life will be held at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, March 24, 2013 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL, with Rev. Joseph Carter officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. on Sunday until time of the services.
Military Graveside Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Riverton, IL.
Leonard was born on March 18, 1960 in Clinton, IN, the son of Leonard P. and El-Frieda Apfel Jackson.
He is survived by his mother and step-father: El-Frieda and George Moran, sons: Anthony (Jessalyn) Jackson of Conway, AR and Creighton Jackson of Tuscola, IL, sister: Rose (Terry) Miller of Tuscola, IL, step-brothers: Paul (Brenda) Moran and Brian (Kathy) Moran, niece: Katelin Moran and nephew: Dustin (Kevin) Jackson, many aunts and uncles and several great-nieces and nephews.
Leonard was preceded in death by his father, brother: Anthony James "TJ" Jackson, his grandparents and niece: Thairenasia Douglas
Memorials are suggested to the Tuscola American Legion Post #27 or Hands-4-Paws.
Leonard retired from the US Navy, where he served as a medical field service technician and instructor. He was a member of the Tuscola American Legion Post #27 and the Tuscola Moose Lodge. Leonard was an avid Fighting Illini fan.
