Lenora G. Peecher, 88, of Tuscola, IL, passed away at 12:30 a.m., Thursday, July 18, 2013 with her daughters by her side at the Tuscola Health Care Center, Tuscola, IL

Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m., Saturday, July 20, 2013 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL.

Graveside Services with military graveside rites accorded will be held immediately following the visitation at the Tuscola Township Cemetery with Rev. Linda Peyla officiating.

Mrs. Peecher was born on December 31, 1924 in Guernsey County, OH to Thomas and Maude Oliver. She married Edwin W. Peecher in Shelbyville, KY on September 8, 1945. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2008 and their daughter: Pamela, five years of age in 1953. She is also preceded in death by her sisters: Opal Gump, Elsie Watkins, Margaret Hess and Wanda Hauck and by her brother: Earl Oliver.

Surviving are her daughters: Adella Sefrhans and husband: William of Cherry Valley, IL; Cynthia Baer and husband: Greg of Tuscola, IL, Cynthia's sons: Brandon T. Lust and his wife: Tatiana of Campinas Sao Paulo Brazil and Charles T. Lust and wife: Shelly of Collinsville, IL, and a great-grandson: Thomas Oliver Lust. She is also survived by her sister: Melba L. McCray and her brother: Donald E. Oliver.

Mrs. Peecher enlisted in the Women's Army Corp in 1944. Her story of that time is featured in a book called "The Muted Trumpet's Call" by local author Chuck Knox. She was a devoted homemaker, mother and grandmother.

She had lived in Tuscola since 1957. A cook and baker for the Tuscola South Ward and North Ward Grade Schools, she delighted a generation of children with her sugar cookies and cinnamon rolls. Family and friends claimed she made the best pies in the world.
