Leland H. Powers, 87, of Champaign, died at 12:31 PM Sunday, July 8, 2012 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, July 12, 2012, at Grandview Memorial Gardens Chapel, 4112 W. Bloomington Rd., Champaign, with Rev. Tim Barber officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at Morgan Memorial Home, 1304 Regency Drive West, Savoy. Shrader Funeral Home, 204 N. Locust Street, Arcola, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Leland was born December 17, 1924 in Spring Lake, Illinois, the second child of Harold and Anna Guile Powers. He was united in marriage to Ida Jane Ault in Champaign on December 18, 1955.

Survivors include his wife Ida Powers of Champaign; sister, Lois Lulis of Phoenix, Arizona; brother, Dr. Marvin Powers of Paducah, Kentucky; and cousin, Claudia Cook of Champaign.

Leland owned and operated United Radiator Service in Champaign. He learned the automotive trade by working for his uncle from 1947 until purchasing the business and retiring in 1987.

Leland served in the United States Army for four years, serving in Germany, France, and Denmark. He was an avid Illini fan, enjoying football, men's and women's basketball, as well as women's volleyball. He and Ida enjoyed square dancing for many yeays.
