Lear Trueville Carter, 84, of Arthur, died at 9:05 PM Sunday, August 7, 2011 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, August 11, 2011 at Shrader Funeral Home, 431 S. Vine Street, Arthur. Burial will follow in the Arthur Cemetery. Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
Lear was born Nov. 28, 1926 in Lovington, the daughter of William Oscar and Rachel Angeline Stinson Jent. She married Johnny Rondell Carter in Missouri on May 19, 1942; he preceded her in death on July 8, 1978.
Survivors include her son, Randy (Mindy) Carter of Arthur; 4 daughters, Joan Mann of Arthur; Joyce (Dale Hensley) Sapp of Arthur; Kimberly (Kip) Hasty of Champaign; Annetta (Lorraine) Carter of Arthur; 13 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren; and sister, Mildred Snyder of Arthur.
She was preceded in death by 1 child, 1 grandchild, 1 great grandchild, parents, 2 brothers, and 5 sisters.
Lear had worked at Angel's Café, Moses' Café, Rockome Gardens, and the Arthur Country Inn. She sold Amway, Heart of America, and Avon products. She loved her family, babies, and crocheting. She was a member of the Arthur First Baptist Church.
