Obituary

Lawrence H. "Larry" Ingrum, 78, of Atwood, IL, passed away at 2:30 a.m., Saturday, May 9, 2009, with his family by his side at the Arthur Home, Arthur, IL

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at the United Church of Atwood, 210 North Main Street, Atwood, IL, with the Rev. Veronica Don officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m., Monday, May 11, 2009 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 66 East US Highway 36, Atwood, IL with Masonic Services being held at 7:30 p.m.. Burial will be in the Lake Fork Cemetery, rural Atwood, IL, with military graveside rites accorded.

Larry was born on January 10, 1931 in Douglas County, IL, the son of Hubert and Edith Durnil Ingrum. He married Norma F. Harshbarger on August 20, 1952 in Tuscola, IL. She survives.

Other survivors include his daughters: Karen Howell and husband: Dave of Morton, IL, Janice Hutchcraft and husband: Jeff of Atwood, IL, 3 Grandchildren: Ryan Gregory of Atwood, IL, Krystal Miller and husband: Andy of East Peoria, IL, and Drew Howell of Morton, IL, 2 Brothers: Ray Ingrum of Arcola, IL, Roger Ingrum of New Concord, Kentucky, 3 Sisters: Mildred Childress of MN and Ethel Needham of Denver, CO, and Mary Olehy of Crawsfordsville, IN

He was preceded in death by his Parents, Infant Daughter: Cheryl Lynn Ingrum, 1 Brother: Joe and 3 Sisters: Maxine, Vera and Fern, Son-In-Law: Ronnie Rentz and Step-Mother: Matilda

Larry retired from Quantum-USI Chemical Company in 1994, where he had worked as a process mechanic for 39 years. He was a US Navy Veteran of the Korean War, having served on the USS Rochester, a heavy cruiser, for 4 years. Larry was a member of the United Church of Atwood and was a member and past master of the Atwood Masonic Lodge #651, AF & AM. He loved learning and reciting poems, which his class the "Forty-Niners" and many friends heard him recite. He liked country dancing and was known for his yard and garden. He loved walking and riding bicycles. His girls and their families were his pride and joy.
