Laura Mae Thode, 73, of Tuscola, IL, passed away 1:42 am, Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at the Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, IL

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, November 19, 2010 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL, with the Rev. Ralph Deal officiating. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Tuscola Township Cemetery.

Mrs. Thode was born on February 20, 1937 in Douglas County, IL, the daughter of John and Gladys Romine Nixon. She married Richard D. Thode on May 11, 1952 in Tuscola, IL. He preceded her in death on August 10, 1984.

Surviving are her children: Rex Thode and wife: Colleen of Normandy, TN, Joyce Scott and husband; Gary of Cedar Lake, IN, Brenda Barnard and husband: Eric of Sullivan, IL, Sandra Horn and husband: Dan of Champaign, IL and Gary Thode of Tuscola, IL, Sister: Mary Borders of Tuscola, IL, 9 Grandchildren and 9 Great-Grandchildren

She was preceded in death her parents, 1 brother and 2 sisters.

Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.

Mrs. Thode formerly worked as a cook at the Douglas County Jail for many years. She was a former volunteer fireman for the City of Tuscola.
