Larry J. Schweighart, aged 73, of Tuscola, passed away at 11:20 p.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at the Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, located at 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL, with Pastor Bennett Woods officiating. Burial will follow in the Tuscola Township Cemetery with military graveside rites accorded.

Friends and family are invited to gather for visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Larry was born on June 10, 1951 in Urbana, the son of Joseph J. and Betty Lou Landacre Schweighart. He married Beverly J. Hughes on October 22, 1976 in Urbana. They recently celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary.

Survivors include his wife, step-mother: Shirley Schweighart of Tuscola, daughters: Melody D. Stuckey of Villa Grove and Jacki S. (Matt) Angell of Viroqua, WI, siblings: Linda J. Byers of Arthur, William H. "Bill" Schweighart of Tuscola, Robert J. "Bob" (Darlene) Schweighart of Tolono, step-sisters: Carol Ann Meeker of Tolono and Sharon (Michael) Kirby of Urbana, 6 grandchildren: Brandon, Dylan, Mikayla, Noah, Micheal, Gianna and K'Leigh and 3 great-grandchildren: Myles Dean, Asher Grey and Payton Rhylley.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, half-brother: Charles Shaw, half-sister: Judith Ann Sorenson and brother: Thomas M. Schweighart.

Larry served his country in the US Air Force. He worked as a custodian for the Tuscola School District for 28 years. Larry then worked as a delivery driver for Sav-Mor Pharmacy for several years.

Larry was instrumental in starting the Tuscola Jaycees and he enjoyed searching on the computer and reading science fiction books. Larry was a member of the Green Meadows Girl Scout Council, Pesotum American Legion Post #580 and NAMI of Champaign County.
