Larry Dean Drake, 76, of rural Tuscola, IL, passed away at 11:30 p.m., Saturday, December 23, 2017 at the C-U Rehab and Nursing Center, Savoy, IL

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 66 East US Highway 36, Atwood, IL with Rev. Kenneth Roedder officiating. Burial with military rites accorded will follow in the Zion Cemetery, rural Arthur, IL.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at the funeral home.

Larry was born on December 30, 1940 in rural Douglas County, IL, the son of Ernest and Mabel Pickle Drake. He married Katherine Ann Clausen on September 12, 1962 at the Zion Church of Christ, rural Arthur, IL. She survives.

Also surviving is a daughter: Cheryl (Chris) Harris and son: Robbie Drake both of rural Tuscola, grandchildren: Jason, Natalie and Nick Harris, Aidan and Lane Drake, brothers: Dennis Drake of Arcola and Danny Drake of Arthur, sister, Pam Drake of rural Sullivan, many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers: Ronnie, Jerry and Jessie, sisters: Donna and Vera.

Memorials are suggested to the Disabled American Veterans Organization.

Larry graduated from Arcola High School in 1960 and served in the US Marine Corps from 1960 to 1964. He worked at Progress Industries Tank Division, Flex-N-Gate, Hillcrest Lumber, Hallbeck Homes and was a retired coal miner. Larry was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ. He was a history buff and loved owning and showing old cars.
