Kyle Tyler Vandeveer, 13, of Charleston, was tragically killed on Friday, June 4, 2010 in Bluford, Illinois.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday, June 10, 2010 at the Eastside Church of the Nazarene, 2129 S. 9th Street, Mattoon, with Dr. John Connett officiating. Burial will follow in the Arcola Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday at the church. Shrader Funeral Home, 204 N. Locust Street, Arcola, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Kyle was born March 12, 1997 in Antioch, California, the son of Charles Raymond "Chuck" and Emilie Beth Shifley Vandeveer.
He is survived by his parents, Chuck and Emilie Vandeveer of Charleston; paternal grandfather, Robert Vandeveer of Charleston; maternal grandfather, Rev. Roy Shifley of Bluford; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by both of his grandmothers and a brother.
Kyle had just completed 7th grade at Charleston Middle School where he was a consistent High-Honor Honor Roll student.
Kyle was a Christian and attended Mattoon Eastside Church of the Nazarene where he was an active member of the youth group and had just been baptized. He met his special friend, Amanda Juszczak, in this youth group. He enjoyed his XBox 360, drawing, playing his guitar, riding his dirtbike and swimming.
