Kenneth "Kenny" Louis Wheeler, 86, of Arcola, died at 4:03 p.m. Thursday, December 21, 2023 at Hilltop Skilled Nursing and Rehab in Charleston.

Kenny was born December 7, 1937 in Old Mulkey, Kentucky, the son of Hubert Carter and Hazel Ford Wheeler.  He married Martha Armer in Arcola on April 8, 1959; she preceded him in death on October 5, 2016.

He is survived by 3 sons, Kenneth (Bonita) Wheeler of Winston-Salem, N. Carolina; John (Charity) Wheeler of Filson; Martin (Brittany) Wheeler of Oakland; 2 daughters, Penny Sly of Fairgrange; Julie Cox of Arcola; 4 brothers, Bill, James, and Johnny Wheeler all of Gamaliel, Kentucky; Wayne Wheeler of Glasgow, Kentucky; 2 sisters, Martha Fae Shreley; Anita Gail Pelley; and 9 grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by brothers, Pete, Carlene, Willie Wheeler; and 2 sisters, Linda England and Lucille Hire.

Kenny was a "jack of all trades"; he had helped in farming, worked at Progress Industries in Arthur, and also for Curry Construction. He was handiest of all handymen, working on lawn mowers and anything mechanical.  He loved to fish and tinker in his garage.

There will be no services.  Shrader Funeral Home, Arcola, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Memorials are suggested to the Arcola Lions Club.
