Deacon Kenneth D. Schumacher 81, of Atwood, IL, and Tulsa, OK, passed away May 15, 2026, after a progressive fight with Alzheimer’s disease.
A Memorial Mass will be held at Forty Martyrs Catholic Church in Tuscola, IL on Thursday, May 28th at 4 p.m., and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 30th at Church of the Resurrection in Tulsa, OK, where he served as a Deacon of the Catholic Diocese for 27 years. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Shawnee, OK.
Ken was born March 7, 1945, to Louis and Ethel (Rogers) Schumacher in Oklahoma City, OK, where he attended Rosary Grade School and Bishop McGuiness High School. He met his Wife, Ronda, while living in Denver, CO and they married May 23, 1981.
His Catholic faith was very important to him and he was ordained as a Deacon for the Diocese of Eastern Oklahoma in 1999, faithfully serving assignments at several Parishes.
Ken spent his career as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist and also ended as a Chaplin at St. John Hospital, Tulsa for 20 years. Earlier in his career he was a successful Sales Representative for diagnostic imaging equipment to hospitals across many Western and Midwestern states.
Ken is survived by his Wife, Ronda of Atwood, IL, Son Robert Schumacher and Wife Kathy of Lula, GA, Daughter, LaDeana Schumacher Ybarra of Vancouver, WA, Stepson Chris Reed and Wife Ann of Cibolo, TX and Stepson Jason Reed and Wife Jenna of Evergreen, CO. They have 14 Grandchildren and 7 Great Grandchildren.
The Family would like to thank Ken’s special caregivers at Carriage Crossing in Arcola, IL for their amazing care, Transitions Hospice for their care and compassion and Odd Fellow Rebekah Nursing Home for his final care.
