Kenneth E. "Kenny" Vestal, 87, of Tuscola, IL passed away at 11:29 pm Monday, October 11, 2010 at his home.
Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, October 15, 2010 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 S. Main St. Tuscola, IL with Rev. Patty Johansen officiating. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, October 14, 2010 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Harmony Cemetery,
Mr. Vestal was born July 25, 1923 in Edgar County, IL the son of John B. and Viola Brown Vestal. He married Wanda Wass January 10, 1948.
Survivors include: His wife of 62 yearsWanda; Son: Kenneth Vestal Jr. of Tuscola, IL; 2 Granddaughters: Nicole Nelsen of Tuscola, and Crystal (Tucker) Knowles of Bement, 2 Great-Granddaughters:Madison Corum and Zoie Nelsen and 2 Great-Grandsons: Wesley and Zachary Knowles; and several Nieces and Nephews; Sister-in-Law Louise Kimmitt
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, and a daughter: Christie.
Kenny was a US Army veteran serving from January 22, 1943 to June 13, 1946. He was injured during his service and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a gasman for Ameren Cilco for 32 years. Kenny spent his retirement traveling, fishing and scrapping in his garage. He was a member of the Tuscola Moose #729.
