Katie Ann
Yoder
November 13, 1926 – February 17, 2017
Katie Ann Yoder, of Arthur, IL, passed from this life on February 17, 2017 at 12:15 p.m. into the arms of her loving Savior after 90 years of living for him.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at the Arthur Mennonite Church, 710 East Park Street, Arthur, IL, with Rev. Glen Rhodes officiating. Burial will follow in the Arthur Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Monday, February 20, 2017 at the church. Shrader Funeral Home, Arthur, IL is handling the arrangements.
She was born on November 13, 1926 to Abraham J. Kuhns and Susanna E. Beachy in Plain City Ohio. She loved talking about the years growing up and had many stories about how she and her siblings lived in the 1930's. She married Christian E. Yoder on January 27, 1952. She moved to Arthur, Illinois and lived there the rest of her life.
She enjoyed being a farmer's wife and raising four children. She loved serving God, cooking, gardening, sewing, quilting, music, reading, and the Cubs. She was a member of the Arthur Mennonite Church and served there faithfully for many years. She loved and prayed for her church family. She was a willing servant to all and had a good sense of humor which helped sustain her through many years living as a widow and being visually impaired. She lived her life devoted to God and was an example of the Godly woman described in Proverbs 31:10-31. Her children (and children's children) arise and call her blessed.
Katie is survived by her children: Joyce Bisbee of Decatur, Clifford J. (Doris) Yoder of Sullivan, Dwight and Edward A. Yoder both of Arthur, grandchildren: Sarah (Bisbee) Hatch, Elijah (Rachel) Bisbee, and Megan Yoder, step-grandchild: Shawna Layer, great-grandchildren: Charlie and Eliana Hatch and Khandlore Layer, siblings: Mrs. LeRoy Troyer (Mary), Mrs. Alvin Kaufman (Edna) both of Plain City, Ohio and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by husband: Chris Yoder on October 8, 1982, daughter: Carolyn Kay on December 20,1952, parents, son-in-law: Charles Bisbee and siblings: Eli Kuhns, Mrs. Dan Troyer (Fannie), Sylvia Kuhns, Mrs. Menno Hostetler (Amanda), Mrs. Dan Beachy (Emma), Elmer Kuhns, and Alma Kuhns.
Special thanks to Pastor Glen Rhodes & to the nursing staff of Decatur Memorial Hospital 4100, and Sullivan Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.
