Kathryn M. Clevidence, 70, of Tuscola, IL passed away at 9:17 a.m. December 23, 2013 at her residence.
Kathy was born January 6, 1943 in Jonesboro, AR, the daughter of Dr. John D. and Margaret A. Morell Van Valkenburg. She was educated at various Air Force Bases throughout postwar Europe before returning to Floodwood MN, where she spent the remainder of her childhood years.
Together with Julie Hoetker, she co-owned the Corner Grocery in Tuscola, IL from 1974 to 1997. She owned and operated The Corner Garden's from 1997 until her passing. Kathy was certified a Master Gardner through the University of Illinois. For many years Kathy was the plant expert at the Tuscola Home Center in Tuscola, IL. She also planted and maintained the flower pots at the corner of Main Street and Sale Street in Tuscola, IL.
Kathy enjoyed time with her family, gardening, nature, and painting. She recently fulfilled a life-long dream of returning to Europe, going on a garden tour of England.
Kathy is survived by 2 daughters: Christine Taber and her husband: Sterling of Mahomet, IL; Karen Clevidence Robertson and her husband: Jack of Austin, TX; 4 Grandchildren: Annie and Wyatt Taber of Mahomet, IL; Christophe and Jonathon Breux of Austin, TX; a great-grandson; Charles Breux of Austin, TX and a sister: Nancy Watrous and husband Fredric "Ike" of Columbia, MO; and 2 nieces: Melanie Sue Watrous of Cobb Island, MD and Amy Kathryn Watrous of Columbia, MO.
She was preceded in death by her partner of 40 years: Julie Hoetker, her parents and sister: Sue Van Valkenburg.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 4, 2014 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL.
